POLICIES
PRIVACY
This Privacy Policy explains what information The High Altitude Kitchen collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with. We've written it in plain language because we believe you deserve to understand it. If you have questions, you can reach us at the contact information at the bottom of this page.
Who we are
The High Altitude Kitchen operates thehighaltitudekitchen.com and the Sage™ cooking and baking assistant. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to The High Altitude Kitchen.
What information we collect
We collect only what we need to provide the service.
If you use Sage Free without an account: We collect no personal information. You can start a conversation with Sage without providing any details about yourself.
If you create an account (Sage Plus): We collect your email address and a password, managed securely through Supabase. We also collect payment information through Stripe. We do not see or store your full credit card number — Stripe handles that directly.
Saved recipes: Sage Plus subscribers can save converted recipes. We store the recipe content along with the elevation and atmospheric parameters used to generate it, so Sage can retrieve accurate results for you in future sessions.
Elevation and location data: When you use Sage, you provide your zip code or elevation. We use this to retrieve current atmospheric conditions from Open-Meteo and to compute altitude-specific guidance. We do not store your precise location beyond what you provide.
Server logs: Like all websites, our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) automatically collects standard server log data including IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps. This is governed by Vercel's privacy policy.
What we do not collect
We do not store your Sage conversation transcripts. Conversations are processed in real time and are not saved to our systems.
We do not collect your full payment card details. Stripe handles all payment processing.
We do not collect data about your cooking or baking beyond the recipes you choose to save.
We do not track your behavior across other websites.
How we use your information
To create and manage your account
To process your Sage Plus subscription and payments
To retrieve and display your saved recipes
To provide Sage with the elevation and atmospheric data needed to generate accurate guidance
To send transactional emails — account confirmation, payment receipts, subscription notices
To improve the service over time
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your data. Ever.
Third parties who process your data
We work with a small number of trusted third parties to operate the service. Each handles your data according to their own privacy policies.
Supabase
Manages user accounts and stores saved recipes. Your email address and saved recipe data are stored on Supabase's servers. Supabase is SOC 2 compliant. Learn more at supabase.com/privacy.
Stripe
Processes all payments and manages subscription billing. Stripe receives your payment card details directly and is PCI-DSS compliant. We never see your full card number. Learn more at stripe.com/privacy.
Anthropic
Powers Sage's AI conversations through the Claude API. When you have a conversation with Sage, your messages are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate a response. Anthropic processes these in accordance with their API usage policies. We do not store conversation transcripts. Learn more at anthropic.com/privacy.
Open-Meteo
Provides current atmospheric data — barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature — based on the elevation or zip code you provide. No personal identifying information is transmitted to Open-Meteo. Learn more at open-meteo.com.
Vercel
Hosts and serves the High Altitude Kitchen application. Vercel automatically collects standard server log data including IP addresses and request metadata as part of normal hosting operations. Learn more at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you logged in to your account and to maintain your session while using Sage. We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.
Your data and your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can:
Update your email address or password through your account settings
Delete your saved recipes at any time through your account
Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us
Cancel your Sage Plus subscription at any time
If you cancel your subscription, your saved recipes and account data are not deleted. If you return to Sage Plus in the future, everything will be where you left it. If you want your data permanently deleted, contact us and we will remove it.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. User accounts are managed through Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption. Payments are processed by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take this seriously and choose partners who do too.
Children's privacy
The High Altitude Kitchen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify Sage Plus subscribers by email and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your use of The High Altitude Kitchen website and Sage™, our cooking and baking assistant. By using the service, you agree to these terms. We've written them in plain language. If you have questions, contact us at the bottom of this page.
Who we are
The High Altitude Kitchen operates thehighaltitudekitchen.com and the Sage™ cooking and baking assistant. References to "we," "us," or "our" refer to The High Altitude Kitchen. References to "you" refer to anyone who uses the service.
Using the service
You may use The High Altitude Kitchen and Sage for personal, non-commercial cooking and baking purposes. You agree not to:
Use the service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or reproduce Sage's underlying system or methodology
Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the service
Use automated tools to access or scrape the service
Share your account credentials with others
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.
Sage's supported elevation range
Sage™ supports elevations of 3,000 ft to 10,500 ft only. If you are below 3,000 ft, sea level recipes generally work without adjustment and Sage is not designed for your kitchen. If you are above 10,500 ft, Sage will ask you to confirm your elevation before proceeding. Guidance provided outside this range may not be accurate.
Nature of Sage's guidance
Sage's guidance is only as accurate as the information you provide. If your elevation, zip code, atmospheric readings, recipe details, or answers to Sage's diagnostic questions are incorrect or incomplete, her output will reflect that. A wrong ingredient, a misremembered quantity, or an inaccurate elevation can all lead to guidance that doesn't match your actual situation. For best results, have your recipe in hand, confirm your elevation, and answer Sage's questions as precisely as you can.
Sage rounds her output to practical cooking and baking measurements. The underlying calculations are precise, but her guidance is expressed in increments you can actually measure in a real kitchen — standard teaspoon, tablespoon, cup fractions, and temperature increments. This is intentional and does not affect the accuracy of her guidance in any meaningful way.
Some recipes cannot be successfully adapted for high altitude regardless of adjustment. When that is the case, Sage will say so directly rather than provide guidance that is unlikely to produce a good result. She will always suggest the closest viable alternative or a different approach.
When Sage assists during an active cooking or baking session — helping to correct or salvage a dish in progress — her guidance represents her best assessment based on the information available at that moment. Mid-cook situations involve variables that are difficult to fully describe and impossible to observe directly. Sage's real-time guidance is offered in good faith but cannot guarantee a successful outcome.
Sage is not a substitute for professional food safety advice. For questions about food safety, allergens, or dietary restrictions with health implications, please consult a qualified professional.
While we have worked hard to make Sage's guidance reliable and accurate, cooking and baking involve variables — ingredient quality, equipment, technique — that are outside our control. We cannot guarantee specific results.
Intellectual property
The High Altitude Kitchen, Sage™, and the underlying methodology that powers Sage are proprietary. Sage™ is a trademark pending. The system behind Sage is the subject of a pending patent.
All content on this site — including blog posts, recipes, copy, and design — is owned by The High Altitude Kitchen unless otherwise noted. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any content without written permission.
Corinne's Recipes are exclusively available to Sage Plus subscribers and may not be reproduced, shared, or distributed in any form.
Third-party recipe links
When you ask Sage to find a recipe, Sage provides links to recipes hosted on third-party websites. Sage does not reproduce, copy, or display the full text of third-party recipes. The content at those links is owned by its respective creators and is subject to their own terms of use and copyright.
We do not endorse, guarantee, or take responsibility for the accuracy, availability, or content of any third-party site Sage links to. Links are provided as a convenience. If a link is unavailable or the content has changed, that is outside our control.
Your use of any third-party site you reach through Sage is governed by that site's own terms of service.
Subscriptions and billing
Sage Free is available at no cost. It includes 2 Sage conversations per month, which reset on the 1st of each month. Unused conversations do not carry over.
Sage Plus is a paid subscription available monthly ($8/month) or annually ($75/year). It includes 15 Sage conversations per month, which reset on the 1st of each month, plus all Sage Plus features including Corinne's Recipes and saved recipes.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method at the frequency you select.
Cancellation policy
Monthly subscribers may cancel at any time. Access continues through the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period.
Annual subscribers may cancel at any time. Access continues through the end of the annual period already paid for. No partial refunds are issued for the remaining months of an annual subscription.
Cancellation stops future charges only. It does not delete your account or your saved data. If you return to Sage Plus in the future, your saved recipes and account information will be exactly where you left them.
If you wish to permanently delete your account and all associated data, contact us directly.
Your saved data
Sage Plus subscribers can save converted recipes along with the elevation and atmospheric parameters used to generate them. This data is stored securely and associated with your account.
We do not store conversation transcripts. Conversations with Sage are processed in real time and are not saved to our systems.
If you cancel your subscription, your saved recipes are not deleted. They remain associated with your account and will be accessible if you resubscribe. If you want your data permanently deleted, contact us.
No ads. Ever.
The High Altitude Kitchen does not display advertising and does not sell your data to advertisers. This applies to both Sage Free and Sage Plus users. It will not change.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific cooking or baking result will be achieved by following Sage's guidance.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The High Altitude Kitchen shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to failed recipes, wasted ingredients, or unsatisfactory results.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make meaningful changes, we will notify Sage Plus subscribers by email and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones The High Altitude Kitchen uses, and why. The short version: we use cookies only to keep you logged in and to make the site work. We don't use advertising cookies. We don't track you across other websites.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — like whether you're logged in — so you don't have to start over every time you load a page.
Cookies are not programs. They cannot run code, carry viruses, or access files on your device. They simply hold a small piece of information that the website can read.
What cookies we use
We use only essential cookies — the minimum required to make the site function. We do not use advertising, analytics tracking, or third party marketing cookies of any kind.

Third party cookies
The only third party cookies on our site come from Stripe, our payment processor. These are set only during the checkout and subscription management process and are governed by Stripe's own cookie policy, available at stripe.com/cookie-settings.

Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

Block all third party cookies
Clear all cookies when you close your browser
Please note that if you delete or block our essential session cookies, you will be logged out of your account and will need to log in again on your next visit. The core functionality of Sage Free — conversations without an account — is not affected by cookie settings.
For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit your browser's help documentation.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites. Because we do not track users across websites for advertising purposes regardless of this signal, it does not change how our site operates for you.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use in a meaningful way, we will update this page and the effective date above. We will notify Sage Plus subscribers by email of any significant changes.
